Elisha is a Bristol based UK artist. Their creative journey began a decade ago with textiles, using embroidery to create carefully counted cross stitch and later therapeutic pieces using the mindful practice of slow stitch. Each piece created embodies the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, the art of imperfection.
In recent years they have branched into watercolour and mixed media, maintaining their philosophy while using natures imperfect perfection as their primary muse. Using multimedia to explore mark making and self-expression, each mark is placed within deep deliberation and contemplation. Asemic writing features in their work with a goal to speak to the viewer in a non verbal way and communicate a message where words can fail. Working with the flow of the watercolour, considering the flow of nature, how everything works symbiotically and that they in turn seek their own symbiosis. Introducing ink aims to contrast and elevate each piece, demonstrating the unexpected, how it can unintentionally create something beautiful out of the darkness.
